In March of 2009 I went on a trip to Peru and took a 4 day hike along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. A goal of mine was to produce a video of this once-in-a-lifetime experience and have it be the most extensive and revealing account of the trek on the internet. This 13 part series of 5 minute films is the rough cut of this project.
The Inca Trail was a path of discovery and intrigue, and if you plan to do this trek and want to experience the surprises yourself, do not watch these films because they contain spoilers of what's along the trail. However, these videos only represent a very small portion of the trail. There's no way to show how it feels to be in such high altitudes with muscles straining to push you up rocky steps!
Using a first person perspective, I created the sensation of the viewer moving along the trail. This means some shaky camera at times but puts you there on the trail rather than just viewing still shots or locked down pans.
This series represents episodes 15-27 of my Peru trip videos. If you would like to read my blog of my trip and view the other videos from this trip, head over to When Reality Bends.
So Head on down to Part I on the right of this page and start your own journey along the Inca Trail!
